In 1998, Edge Eyewear became the first company ever to successfully produce ANSI and CSA Compliant Polarized Safety Lenses. There are two methodologies to produce polarized lenses. One method, called “thermoforming” or “heat stamping”, has never produced polarized film lenses that are strong or thick enough to withstand the intense impact tests required by the CSA Standard. The second method was pioneered by Edge Eyewear. Polycarbonate injection molded lenses contain ionized crystals that filter light in a similar manner as polarized film, yet leave the lenses thick enough to withstand the intense impact standards required by CSA Standard.

All Edge Eyewear is tested in independent laboratories colt laboratories for compliance with:

  • CSA Z94.3-07
  • Military Ballistic MCEPS GL-PD 10-12

Polarized Lens

In 1999, Edge Eyewear became the first company to offer a Polarized lens in safety glasses. Because light can be extremely harsh and blinding to the eye, Polarized lenses feature a special filtering layer that blocks out reflected light from below and glare from above. By allowing only direct light to enter, this lens maximizes the ability to see without excessive blinding light.

Polarized Smoke

Polarized Smoke lenses provide the perfect all-around tint for bright light conditions. This popular lens color blocks the brightest sun-rays without producing any color distortion. The addition of a polarizing filter increases clarity by reducing glare
